THE countdown to Christmas has already begun and no doubt everyone will be scouring the shops for that perfect present. But sometimes the best things are right here under our noses - we just can’t see them for looking. The Highgrove Shop in Tetbury, on the doorstep, here in the heart of the Cotswolds, has launched an unique gifts as well as myriad edible treats.
Who could possibly disappointed on Christmas morning when they unwrap a gift that has had Royal approval? And what’s even better, you won’t have to fight your way through the crowds in the big towns which will be heaving at this time of year. So why not give yourself a break and shop local?
Despite the frantic build up, Christmas does seem to come and go in a flash and it is easy to feel a bit deflated when all the festivities have died down.
But fear not, just a mere month later Burns Night is on the horizon and we have got just the thing to warm the cockles of your heart on cold winter nights. There’s a chance to win a fabulous £40 bottle of whisky from Arkwrights, near Lechlade in our Burns Night competition and Cotswold Essence readers can also take advantage of the special 5 percent offer too.
But if you are planning on taking a more holistic approach to the New Year we also have something for you. There’s a chance to win some pampering time at Barnsley House Spa with lunch thrown in for one lucky reader and a friend as well as a soothing massage to give away at Perfection Health & Beauty in Malmesbury. And as it is the season of giving we haven’t stopped there. The Cotswold Essence sack of goodies is overflowing in this issue.
We’ve got a hand-made Artisan stool from the new John Lewis of Hungerford to be won, some quirky Champagne and wine party stools made out of cork, an overnight stay with dinner at the Mayfield House Hotel with three of your friends, a £35 voucher for funky diva designs in Tetbury, a pair of Vibram fitness shoes and books galore.
